Dutch oven cooking for cast iron and coals

Bob Foran didn't prepare his "Papa's Hash" for the Dutch oven cook-off with the intent of winning anything in the contest. But he did.
"This is my first time in a contest. I've been dabbling with it for a couple of years," said Foran, who says that heat control has been his greatest challenge in the cast iron and coals method of cooking.
Winners at the Dutch oven cook-off at the Nebraskaland Days Heritage Festival were:
Adult two-person team: Dan and Khristofer Kuhlmann, Imperial, Mexican lasagna and triple chocolate cake; Todd Chambers and Dwane Cochran, salmon stew and watermelon cake.
Adult one person: Al Redden, pork chops with mushroom dressing. Bob Foran, Papa's Hash.
Youth two-person team: Cheyanne and Shannon Kuhlmann, Imperial, cheesy potatoes and Mississippi mud cake.
