Starting Oct. 27, fans of the popular Cartoon Network series “Chowder” will be able to show off their cooking skills in a DVD-driven contest.

To highlight the Nov. 4 Warner Home Video release of the first volume of the series, Cartoon Network has designed an online sweepstakes in which fans can create a recipe using bizarre ingredients. Five winners will be chosen on Dec. 11, with their names revealed during a new episode.

“[‘Chowder’ has] done so well on-air and on electronic sellthrough to date, we wanted to do something unique and special for this release,” said Christina Miller, VP of Cartoon Network Enterprises. “I think we have fairly lofty goals for this contest.”

A grand prize winner will receive a $250 Visa gift card, an Apple iPod Nano with episodes of the show, the volume one DVD and other Cartoon Network prizes. The four second-place winners will receive a $150 gift card, the DVD and Cartoon Network prizes.

The DVD hits two weeks before new episodes of the young chef series airs, and the deadline to enter the contest at www.chowdersweepstakes.com is Nov. 18.
