New York, NY November 2, 2008 -- Better Homes and Gardens magazine's BetterRecipes.com site today announced the winner of the "America's Next Cooking Celebrity" contest. Rob Barrett, who has the cooking4dads's channel on YouTube, won the cook off with Kristina Vanni, who has the kristinavanni Channel, in the Better Homes and Gardens Test Kitchen. Rob will appear on the Better Today television show, which will air Monday, Nov. 3, at different times in 30 markets.

Launched on Aug. 18, 2008, the "America's Next Cooking Celebrity" contest sponsored by BetterRecipes.com called on entrants to upload a video of them preparing an original recipe. Participants from across the country embraced the challenge in creative ways.

"Hundreds of talented people entered our cooking contest -- but Kristina and Rob really stood out from the rest. They dazzled us with their creativity, cooking chops, and, ultimately, their delicious dishes," said Heather Morgan Shott, Senior Food Editor of BHG.com. Contestants were narrowed down to two finalists, who were flown to Des Moines, Iowa for a Cook-off in the famous Better Homes and Gardens Test Kitchen.

You can see the cooks preparing their final dishes by clicking on Cook-Off Slideshow. You can see the final cook-off, which will air on the Better Show on Monday morning, by clicking on Cook-Off Video. The panel of judges then selected the winner based on the personality of the finalist, ability to communicate the creation of the dish to the audience, final presentation, and taste.

Rob is not a professional chef, just a dad who has learned to cook fun meals for the whole family. In addition to his YouTube channel, he also has the Cooking for Dads site, where you will find easy to follow video recipes showing everything you need to know and everything you need to do. There's very little measuring and he uses no cooking mumbo-jumbo.

"Rob is a natural," said Jennifer Darling, Executive Food Editor for Meredith Special Interest Media. "Anyone can follow his directions and his recipes were yummy--great family food. We're all excited to see his Tastebook recipe collection that he's putting together."

Rob stayed an extra day in the Better Homes and Gardens Test Kitchen to prepare one of his favorite Thanksgiving Recipes and wowed the Better Homes and Gardens editors with his Leftover Thanksgiving Calzone. Now everyone can have a recipe perfect for those Thanksgiving leftovers.
