Tammy Love calls herself a Food Network junkie. A fan of competition cooking shows, the Dallas woman never expected to go head-to-head in the kitchen for a $1 million prize.

Come April, Love will do exactly that. She hopes her skill will win over the taste buds of judges in the 44th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest in Orlando. Fla.

Love’s husband, Jim Love, answered the phone when contest officials first called the house.

“He might be more excited than me,” said Love. “He tells everybody. He thinks it’s the coolest thing in the world.”

The Loves will fly to Orlando in April. Airfare and lodging for three days will be covered by Pillsbury, but the couple plans to stay a full week and take in the sites — including Disney World.

Jim Love has never been to Florida. Tammy Love went once on a church trip but looks forward to all that the week will include.

The grand prize winner of the contest will take home the big cash prize and $7,000 in kitchen appliances.

Tammy Love is already enjoying her prizes for being a finalist, including an official apron, a $125 gift card and a new microwave.

She’s been putting the new microwave to work making her prize recipe, Java-Glazed Cinnamon Rolls.

During the bake-off, Love will make her cinnamon rolls three times in three hours. Each round of rolls will be judged in different criteria.

Love’s recipe is in the Breakfast and Brunches category. She will compete against 99 other contestants.

To prepare for the competition, Love has been preparing glazed rolls on a regular basis.

“People ask for it so much so that helps me,” she said.

Love has already connected with some of her competitors through Facebook. Though she still wants to beat them in the bake-off, Love said she looks forward to meeting her new friends face to face.

Many of her new contacts have competed in the bake-off before, Love said.

Love cooks as a hobby. This is the first time she’s entered a contest but said it won’t be her last.

“It just kind of sparked an interest in the recipe contest world,” she said.

RECIPE

Java-Glazed Cinnamon Rolls

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Start to finish: 35 minutes

1 can (17.5 oz) Pillsbury Grands! refrigerated cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing (5 rolls)

2 tablespoons milk

1/4 teaspoon instant coffee granules or crystals

1/2 cup Hershey’s premier white baking chips

1/2 cup Fisher Chef's Naturals Chopped Pecans

Heat oven to 350°F.

Spray 9-inch round cake pan with Crisco Original No-Stick Cooking Spray. Place cinnamon rolls in pan; reserve icing. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly.

Meanwhile, in small microwavable bowl, microwave 1 tablespoon of the milk uncovered on high about 20 seconds or until hot; stir in coffee granules until completely dissolved. Stir in reserved icing.

Microwave uncovered on high 25 seconds. Stir in baking chips and remaining 1 tablespoon milk.

Microwave 25 seconds longer; stir until chips are completely melted. (Microwave in additional 10-second increments, if necessary, until chips are melted.)

Stir pecans into icing mixture. Pour over rolls.

Serve warm.
